DIYBIKING.COM purchased the Santa Cruz-based Box Bike Collective in January 2017. The focus of Box Bike by DIYBIKING.COM is the same now as it was then: to make quality cargo bikes that will make it even easier for a car-owning person to say leave the car, take the bicycle when faced with the choice as to how they get around.
These cargo bicycles don't roll off an assembly line in another country to be packed in shipping containers. Each one is hand made in a small workshop in San Jose. The steel comes from Milpitas. The canvas sides and child seats are sewn by a guy named Vince in Santa Cruz. The powder coating is done at RC Refinishing - a small company that's been in the business in San Jose since 1962. This is as farm-to-table in bike form as you are going to get.
As of right now (this page is updated in real time) these bikes are available:
"Blue Sky" (demo model - fewer than 50 miles)
Price: $4,100 - free delivery anywhere in Santa Clara County
Price: $4,300 - free delivery anywhere in Santa Clara County
If you live in the Bay Area and want to shorten your list of excuses why you don't use a bicycle more often, like Box Bike by DIYBIKING.COM on Facebook (a new web site is under construction) and message me if you wish to purchase. Thanks for reading and thanks for riding.
